Jill Harvey

Jill grew up in the Pacific northwest of British Columbia, Canada, with nature and adventure literally in her backyard. While completing an undergraduate degree in Geography at the University of Victoria, Jill worked as a marine guide with resident orca populations in the coastal waters of southern Vancouver Island. Later she was drawn to the polar regions, spending six years leading and lecturing on over 70 expedition trips in the Antarctic and Arctic. During this time Jill developed a passion for the ice, wildlife, and history of the polar regions. In 2009 she earned a master’s degree in Geography from University of Victoria. Her research focused on studying ice closer to home, specifically the episodes of glacial expansion and climate change during the Holocene in the central Coast Mountains of BC. Devoted to backcountry field research and education, Jill is now pursuing a Ph.D. in resource management and remote sensing. However, the allure of the icy south still calls every year and she is thrilled to remain involved and engaged in expedition travel. With years of experience leading Antarctic expeditions, Jill brings great leadership and project management skills to the position along with an attitude of passion, adventure, and fun!
