Kare Tannvik

A reknowned expert on the Norwegian Arctic, Kåre was born and raised in Kirkenes. During the 1980s he was involved, acting in and directing, documentary films describing the stuggle for Sami autonomy including The Taking of Samiland and Scorched Earth. He is well-known throughout the region and frequently guides curious travelers well off-the-beaten-path to get a taste of traditonal Sami lifestyle. He is also heavily involved in developing the area’s emerging tourism industry and is the owner of the Snowhotel in Kirkenes.
