Mickey Hart

Mickey Hart is the drummer for the legendary Grateful Dead, and a Grammy Award-winning musician, producer, and sonic explorer. Mickey has worked with Richard Kurin for decades, re-engineering Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, performing at Smithsonian events, and serving on its advisory board. The 25-record Mickey Hart Collection, including a three-CD set he recorded during his last trip to Bali, has recently been released through Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. In Bali, Mickey will provide insight into its varied musical traditions, jam with local musicians, and instruct interested travelers. Richard will augment the performance highlighting the importance of world musical explorations.
