James J. McCarthy
Jim is Harvard's Agassiz Professor of Oceanography and former Director of Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology. He holds a Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and is one of three U.S. scientists who have had leadership roles in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize as part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He served as president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science 2009-10.
