Zegrahm Expeditions Announces its 2014 Return to Bolivia
16-Day Expedition Offers a Great Mix of Culture and Natural History for Adventure Travelers

Seattle, WA (January 22, 2014) – Zegrahm Expeditions, the world leader in small-ship cruising and overland adventures, is thrilled to announce its return to one of South America’s most fascinating countries on its Best of Bolivia expedition in 2014. This itinerary is filled with superlative experiences from interacting with some of the oldest cultures in the New World and photographing the most dramatic landscapes in South America, to visiting the largest lake on the continent and observing the greatest variety of flora and fauna on the planet.

Cultural highlights of this 16-day expedition include:

  • Staying in the unique Luna Palacio de Sal built almost entirely of salt at the Uyuni Salt Flat, a spectacular salt pan that stretches between horizons in a glittering sea of crystals.
  • Visiting the magnificent colonial cities of Potosi, famous for its rich silver mines, and Sucre, “the white city;” both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • Discovering the cosmic center of the Incan world—Lake Titicaca—and visiting the Isla del Sol, the island where the Incan sun god emerged from the icy deep to create the universe.
  • Photographing a variety of stunning subjects from towering volcanoes and otherworldly landscapes, to graceful colonial architecture and vibrant markets frequented by colorfully clad local people.

In addition to enjoying a wealth of cultural experiences, this expedition will be led by Zegrahm field director, Jonathan Rossouw, to ensure that travelers are exposed to the often overlooked natural history of Bolivia. A medical doctor turned wildlife guide, Jonathan has identified over 8,000 bird and 700 mammal species during his career. Travelers will be in good hands as they explore the remote, biodiverse wilderness of Madidi National Park, home to 800 species of birds as well as giant river otters, a variety of primates, and, the elusive jaguar.

“We couldn’t be more excited to once again be sharing this South American gem with our travelers,” says Zegrahm President, Edwin Blythe. “Its ancient cultures and the vast diversity of its little-known natural wonders truly make Bolivia one of the most special places in the world.”

This expedition takes place October 18 – November 2, 2014 and is priced from $10,780 per person. For more information about Zegrahm or to make a reservation on an upcoming expedition, please visit www.zegrahm.com or call 1-800-628-8747.
