Monday, January 6, 2014 - Buenos Aires, Argentina / Ushuaia: Most of us arrived in Buenos Aries and continued on to Ushuaia to join our fellow explorers at the Las Hoyas Hotel. We unpacked and enjoyed a welcome dinner where our Expedition Leader, Russ Evans, and Zegrahm cofounder Peter Harrison greeted us and welcomed us to the trip of a lifetime. After our long day’s traveling, most of us headed for an early bedtime.

2013 West Coast of South America Field Report

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - Quito, Ecuador: Wherever you were coming from, or where your flight originated, it’s a safe bet that when your plane made its descent into Quito, it didn’t have to descend as far as it originally climbed. This is because Quito sits at 9,350 feet, on the lower slopes of the volcano Pichincha. If you were near a window during that descent, your first image of Quito was of a whitewashed colonial-style city with few tall buildings, sprawling across emerald green slopes and canyons.

Thursday & Friday, September 5 & 6, 2013 - Istanbul, Turkey / Embark Island Sky: Welcome to Istanbul! On arrival at the historic Pera Palace Hotel, some of us opted to unwind in the luxury of this newly renovated landmark. Others chose to relax at a nearby hamman, the ultimate Turkish bath experience, or to set out to explore the city. In the evening we gathered to meet our fellow travelers, some arriving from a pre-extension to Cappadocia in central Turkey, and our expedition staff over welcome cocktails.

2013 Rainforests & Reefs Field Report

Friday, March 8, 2013 - Belize City, Belize: For most of us arriving from colder climates, the weather provided a warm welcome to Belize at our hotel in the historic district, the Radisson Fort George and Marina Hotel. With an afternoon at leisure, some of us settled in and relaxed while other intrepid souls headed off to explore the town. As the sun set we assembled for drinks and hors d’oeuvres hosted by Zegrahm Expeditions and Stanford Travel/Study, and we met some of the staff and our fellow traveling companions, before a traditional buffet dinner.

We gathered at the Airways Hotel, where we met our fellow adventurers at the welcome cocktail party, followed by dinner.
