2013 Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falkland Islands Field Report

Thursday, January 3, 2013 - Buenos Aires, Argentina: After arriving in Buenos Aires earlier this morning, we enjoyed a most welcome buffet at our lovely hotel, the Emperador. We then had the afternoon to either relax or sight-see in this colorful Argentinean capital. In the evening we attended a reception, dinner, and short briefing to prepare us for our adventures to come. Most of us retired early to catch up on as much sleep as possible before our frightfully early check-out the next morning.

Saturday, January 14, 2012 - Buenos Aires, Argentina: Don't cry for me, Argentina...as it is with great regret we only had time to quickly meet and pass through your captivating capital of Buenos Aires. Our small group of excited adventurers momentarily added to this autonomous city’s population of about 3 million inhabitants, and just as briefly we had enough time to enjoy its renowned food, wine, and tangos. Though most of us arrived early this morning after long red-eye flights, others in our group arrived much earlier to adjust to local time.

Thursday, July 7, 2011 - Tromsø, Norway / Embark Clipper Adventurer: After our plane touched down in Tromsø from Oslo, we boarded motor coaches and enjoyed a trifecta of destinations. While listening to guides describe highlights of Tromsø along the way, our explorations began with a cable car ride up to Mount Storsteinen (the Big Rock Mountain in English), a Tromsø icon. Rising 421 meters above sea level, we marveled at pristine sunny panoramas of the city below before eating lunch and independently exploring easy trails around the gift shop and terrace.
