Where to Shop: India Edition

Our India, Sri Lanka & the Maldives expedition takes place during the holiday season, the perfect time to finish up shopping for your friends and family! This region offers plenty of local gifts that you simply can’t get elsewhere.

  • India’s Goa is known for its Portuguese heritage, but you’ll enjoy time at leisure to wander through the old district of Fontainhas, scouring the market for stunning fabrics and local spices; Goa was once a successful spice-trading colony.
  • In Mangalore tour a cashew processing plant, with the opportunity to purchase the tasty nuts for gifts—if they make it all the way home!
  • Galle, Sri Lanka is home to the Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Art Museum. The museum shop sells local Sri Lankan art, including decorative wood panels.

Not only does this voyage offer excellent opportunities to delve into local culture, you’ll also snorkel or dive among the dazzling corals and marine life of the Maldives; explore the scenic Kerala backwaters by local boat to observe daily life; and visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Kandy’s fabled Temple of the Tooth and the Dutch-built Galle Fort.
