Nairobi / Mara Naboisho Convservancy

October 15

Today, board our flight for the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, a private reserve with a high concentration of wildlife, and low concentration of visitors. The 50,000 acre conservancy is made up of land contributions from 500 Maasai landowners and provides the local community with a sustainable livelihood, ensuring the conservation of this vital corridor of the Maasai Mara eco-system. Check in to the award-winning Encounter Mara, and enjoy some of the best game viewing in Africa from the low-key yet lavish comfort of this superb eco-camp. Shaded by a thick acacia forest, Encounter Mara enjoys glorious views of the surrounding savanna, while closer at hand, a salt lick attracts a range of animals throughout the day, from plains game to big cats. This evening, attend a Maasai cultural performance, with dinner and overnight at camp.

Mara Naboisho Conservancy

October 16

With only a handful of lodges in the Conservancy, you are ensured a level of safari solitude simply unheard of in some of the busier reserves. During morning and evening game drives, search for the Conservancy’s impressive number of big cats, as well as herds of elephant, giraffe, and wildebeest. Rare species such as aardvark, caracal, serval cat, aardwolf, and honey badger can also be found here. Bird watching is fantastic with several bird species rarely seen elsewhere in the nearby Mara such as white-headed buffalo-weavers, northern white-crowned shrikes, pygmy falcons, Von Der Deckens hornbills, and bush pipits.

Mara Naboisho Conservancy / Maasai Mara National Reserve

October 17

After one last game drive and breakfast, board our short flight to the world-famous Maasai Mara. Check in to Sentinel Mara Camp, where your comfortable en suite tent is set on the banks of the Mara River. Watch hippos and crocodiles from the comfort of your tent, as well as a variety of other game coming to drink or cross the river. Enjoy an evening game drive, with dinner and overnight at camp.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

October 18October 19

Spend two full days exploring with your expert guide. The camp is located on the Mara River near several crossing points and is considered one of the best places in the area to view the amazing spectacle of a Great Migration river crossing. Please note, the migration varies from year to year and a river crossing is not guaranteed; however, we will make every effort to be in the best place at the best time. You can also look forward to seeing species such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, black rhinos, hippos, and superb birdlife.
